Pippa Funnel MBE – UK Eventer and Olympic Medallist – visits Aberdeen
Philippa Rachel "Pippa" Funnell MBE is an Event Rider who, in 2003, became the first person in history to win the Rolex Grand Slam of Eventing (consecutive wins at Rolex Kentucky, Badminton and Burghley), she's won Badminton twice and at the European Championships she has also won two Individual golds and three team golds. She is a three-time Olympic medallist, winning team silver in 2000 and 2004, and an individual bronze in 2004. She also competed at the 2016 Olympic Games.
Pippa has written an autobiography as well as a series of children’s books called Tilly's Pony Tails, each title in the series tells a new story about Tilly’s adventures with horses and ponies. As well as the fictional story, each title also contains a tips section with expert advice from Funnell on all aspects of horses and ponies. She will be in-store at Country Ways, Aberdeen, on Friday 26th January 5:30 to 7:30pm to sign copies of her book, with all profits from the book sales going to Aberdeen Riding Club Hippotherapy – a group which provides physiotherapy on horseback to riders who require it and offer a highly specialised therapy service which is really needed in the Aberdeen area.
Pippa is also hosting a lecture-demonstration event on Saturday evening 27th January at Fountain Equestrian Centre, Aberdeen, passing on her top tips and training techniques to the audience. Sponsored by Country Ways, in association with Aberdeenshire Cross Country Jumps and DAvid Lawson Equestrian Events.
